History

This 3 CD set included a remastering of the original South Specific compilation album of Portsmouth bands from 1980 –  this was RatL’s first appearance on a formal release and vinyl.

For the 40^th anniversary of that album, a Brain Boosters team largely made up of original participants (including Renaldo) set about compiling a new overview of Portsmouth music – this filled 2 discs and features 23 bands currently active with Portsmouth roots.

The profits from the sales of the album were donated to a local mental health music charity – Tonic.

RatL’s 2020 contributions were exclusively recorded for this project and reflect on recordings made in 1980 –  Blue Mountain Goat revisits Honest Joe from the Larvae album and Now: Then updates scenes from Ted’s Reverie, Kimbolton Gnome Song and Fluorescent Showboat to Tangier – three songs that, at the time, referred directly to local contexts.
